The Department has the following targets:

• Preparing of the future specialists by data presentations from the domains: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry -Physics and General Chemistry.
• Studying thoroughly of chemistry knowledge in the domains: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry -Physics and General Chemistry.
• Disciplines covered by lectures are: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry -Physics, General Chemistry, Colloidal Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Electrochemistry, General Chemical Technology, Environmental Physical-Chemistry, Basis of Technology, Corrosion.
• The Department assures by corresponding lectures, preparing of students from the Faculties: Oil Technology and Petrochemistry, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Letters and Sciences, Engineering of Oil and Gases, Economical Sciences.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

This  activity is organised by research teams, which belong to disciplines : Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical-Chemistry and General Chemistry.

• Inorganic Chemistry
  The team is directed by prof.dr.chem. Lucia Antonescu and prof.dr.chem. Stelian Neagoe and it has the following didactic personnel: Dorina Matei, Daniela Popovici, Sonia Mihai. Researches in domains: Synthesis and structural characterization of inorganic combinations and complex combinations.
• Analytical Chemistry
  The team is directed by Prof.dr.chem. Octav Pântea and it has the following didactic personnel: Eva Trîmbitasu, Daniela Popovici, Andreea Bondarev. Researches in domains: role and influence of solvents in thermometric titrimetry, study of corrosion in oil and petrochemistry, study of metals microquantities from oil products.
• General Chemistry.
  The team is directed by Prof.dr.chem. Alexandra Ioana Schiopescu and it has the following didactic personnel: Floarea Manea, Maria Moraru, Ana Dinca, Ileana Camenita. Researches in domains: corrosion and its controlling in extractive industry, corrosion inhibitors, study of clays as disperse systems, aspects regarding efficiency of catalysts used in processes of gasolines hydrofining.
• Organic Chemistry.
  The team is directed by prof.dr.eng.Ion Bolocan and it has the following didactic personnel: Eugen Barbu, Steliana Cristea, Roxana Badulescu, Dorin Bombos. Researches in domains: study of mechanism and kynetic thermal decomposition of organic substances, study of oxidative condensation of methane for ethylene obtaining, synthesis of  2,7-naftiridinic derivatives with potential pharmacologycal application, synthesis of monomers for the obtaining of dye polymers. 
• Chemistry -Physics.
  The team is directed by prof.dr.eng.Vasile Dumitrescu and it has the following didactic personnel: Naum Nicolae, Alexandru-Dan Camenita, Simona Gruia. Researches in domains: physical-chemical characterization of nonelectrolytes solutions in polar solvents, study of  molecular composition of different oil fractions by chromatorafic and spectroscopic methods, catalytic combustion of methane  at low temperature, kinetics of esterification reactions in acid and basic media in aqueous solutions, synthesis and characterization of zeolitic catalysts, catalysis on zeolitic catalysts.
