Department General presenting
General objectives:
- Preparing future specialists and training specialists in domains of modern petroleum and petrochemical equipments manufacturing technologies by day learning courses, master courses and long distance courses;
- Activities of scientific research in domains of materials, advanced manufacturing technologies, tribological behavior of petroleum equipments, reability, durability, repairing and/ up to date and assuring petroleum equipment quality.
Department of Petroleum Equipments Manufacturing Technology (TCUP) was created in the year 1950 in the same time with Faculty of Petroleum Equipments.
Along the 57 years of existence, in the department worked important domain personalities as: Prof. Ph.D. Doc. St. Eng. D. Raşeev, Prof. Ph.D. Eng. I. Vlădescu, Prof. Ph.D. Eng. V. Micloşi, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Eng. V. Ralea, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Eng. M. Marcu.
Department had a important contribution at research activities of University Petroleum-Gas of Ploesti, by many publications in our country and abroad, research contracts, participations at many scientific conferences, symposiums all over the world and by 35 Ph.D. theses with important production improvements.
In the department TCUP the improvement of learning processes is realized by discipline analyses, permanent up to date the analytical programs by a sustainable documentation with national, European or international standards, by editing courses, laboratory manuals and by realizing many testing devices and laboratory devices.
From begin to present the department activity was improved by appearing new disciplines at new study domains for faculties: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Faculty, Wells Drilling and Production Faculty, Letters and Science Faculty.

TCUP department has 22 de members: 6 professors, 7 associate professors, 4 lectures professors, 4 assistants, 1 training assistant and 1 consulting professor.
In professional training 17 department members obtain the title of Ph.D. in technical domain and 5 members are Ph.D. students. For of department professors could drive doctoral studies.

Material base
T.C.U.P. department material base consists of specialized laboratories for making tests regarding materials research, thermal treatments, manufacturing, precision of manufacturing, tribological research, corrosion, welding, with possibility to make tests in working conditions for petroleum and petrochemical equipments (mechanical fatigue, thermal fatigue, low temperatures, aggressive mediums).
TCUP department has 7 didactic laboratories in which could be made also scientific research. Machines, devices, equipments, apparatus are suited to demands imposed of didactic and research specific activities and are efficient used with high qualified personals. A third part of department devices were made by the department members using intelligent solutions and by department members’ efforts along the time. Improvements, acquisitions to modernize the department equipments are made especially using extra budget founds, majority from research contracts made by department members.
Scientific research
Main research directions are:
- Strategies and politics of sustainable development in petroleum and petrochemical equipments industry;
- Activities of scientific research in the field of manufacturing and calculus of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Research regarding materials behavior in the specific working conditions of petroleum equipments as low temperatures, aggressive mediums;
- Research regarding durability and reliability for equipments and tools for drilling and production;
- Research regarding Tribological and corrosion behavior for petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Activities of scientific research in the field of design and manufacturing of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Activities of scientific research in the field of materials, advanced manufacturing technologies, technical control, maintenance, repairing/or modernizing and assuring quality of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Design and manufacturing petroleum and petrochemical equipments of flexible fabrication systems;
- Computer assist manufacturing of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Activities of quality control of products made of metallic and non metallic materials by destructive tests and metallographic analyses;
- Research regarding thermal treatments applying in field conditions for elements of petroleum and petrochemical equipments and weldings;
- Research regarding applying modern repairing technologies of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Research regarding applying modern manufacturing and assembling technologies of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Management of manufacturing, assembling, practice and maintenance of drills and production equipments;
- Research regarding the influence of manufacturing technology above petroleum equipment working characteristics;
- Research regarding realizing new materials and technologies in the domain of corrosion protection for petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Research regarding stresses and deformations of petroleum and petrochemical equipments;
- Research regarding improvement the quality and reability of petroleum and petrochemical equipments.
TCUP department has realized along the time a closer collaboration with production factory’s and with specialized research institutes and also with other universities, collaborations finalized by resolving important, on a base of research contracts, fundamental and applicative research theme.
In that direction is remarkable in scientific research activity the research contracts made by department member’s which participate at national research programs RELANSIN, MENER, INFOSOC, CALIST CNCFIS, CNCSIS, CNCSIS–BIOCOB etc.
TCUP department obtain by contest also financial founds in international programs TEMPUS, PHARE by which were assured many devices and the development and the university management.
Department didactic member’s scientific activities are reflected also by the important number of patents realized as results obtain in scientific research activity.
A special attention was given to the department doctoral student’s scientific research activities to finish Ph.D. theses as starting points to develop and to solve important research themes.
Illustrating for volume, variety and quality of scientific research made in department T.C.U.P. are didactic member’s participations at international and national conferences, symposiums with appreciated scientific papers.
